It should be clear, after the presentations, that much of the IPCC scenarios/storylines are dependent upon assumptions about human nature. Some of them, B1 in particular, require a change in value systems - but A1 argues that we are fundamentally incapable of change in value system.

In the presentations, various buzzword phrases were used such as:

• Global Consciousness
• Global Morality
• Post Materialism
• Market Driven Policies will prevail - its what we always do
• Humans are hardwired for empathy
• No such thing as Global Cooperation
• Polluting the Environment is a sin
• Humans are inherently tribal
• Economic focus vs Environmental Focus

So for tuesday, we will have some free form discussion on human nature and intrinsic obstacles. More specifically, we will explore the notion of whether or not "Global Cooperation" is fundamentally against human nature.

So be prepared to say something on Tuesday.
