Assignments -> First Team Presentation

In class presentations will be Wednesday October 10. Each team should schedule practice time with Tiiu to improve presentation efficiency and to eliminate redundancy.

Practice space will be scheduled into room 147B in the Knight Library. Tiiu will contact each group about scheduling details.

Group Dynamics/Presentation:

  • Communication is everything. Someone needs to be a project coordinator/leader to insure that individual tasks are coordinated.

  • Before even proceeding, everyone needs to get on the same page about the focus and intent of your presentation.

  • Assign individual research tasks; set timelines; meet those timelines.

  • Your "graded" on overall team performance - not every individual needs to talk on every presentation.

  • Presentations should be 17-18 minutes in duration.

Premise: The European Union is paying a lot more attention to their near term energy crises than the United States is. Several countries are currently engaged in various proactive strategies. For this exercise, each team will be assigned a country to report on using the following template:

  • What was the energy portfolio of this country 30 years ago (e.g. 1975)? (make sure to include how much energy needs to be imported into this country).

  • How has their energy portfolio evolved over the last 30 years?

  • How has per capita energy consumption in this country changed over the last 30 years?

  • What are the future plans for in country renewable energy generation over the next 10-30 years?

  • What is the future transportation plan for this country and what is the current state of mass transit or alternative transportation in this country?

  • Sell your country as the world leader in thinking ahead on these issues.

Assigned Countries:

  • Blue Team Spain

  • Dragon Team United Kingdom

  • Shark Team France

  • Tiger Team Germany
